Giving Back: Special thanks to George Mason University

Faculty at George Mason University in Fairfax have been invaluable assets to the volunteer team here at Culmore Clinic. Professors lend their time and talent to helping Culmore give necessary preventative care to the community. Rebecca E. Sutter DNP APRN BC-FNP is the Mason and Partners Clinic Co-Director as well as Assistant Professor of Nursing, and Caroline Sutter DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, also an Assistant Professor of Nursing.

GMU’s Mason and Partners Clinic, which trains nurses in the community, refers patients to us. The MAP clinic does health screenings as well as determines patient eligibility for the AFfordable Care Act and other public health resources. For patients with no other options, MAP sends them to us at Culmore. We also send patients we find may be eligible for the Affordable Care Act to MAP.

GMU has also helped our transition to EMR through their Nursing and Health Informatics programs. GMU faculty and graduate students have been a key support system for our all-volunteer EMR Implementation Team. They helped us select the system (Practice Fusion) and now help to train our staff to use it.
